TOWNE, ROBERT C
[br][br]Passed away on April 23, 2016 in Spokane Valley, WA. Bob was born on October 22, 1924 in Aberdeen, WA to Seth Towne and Gisela Pirker. After graduation, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He moved to Spokane, WA where he met and married his wife, Anne Towne, on December 11,1959. He spent his career in the coffee business working for Boyd's, M & K and Farmer Brothers Coffee. After retirement he enjoyed spending his summers at their lake place in Twin Lakes, WA where he loved to fish, boat and swim. During the winter months he loved to bowl. He also loved listening to Dixie Land Jazz and they traveled all over to attend jazz festivals. He was a very accomplished musician himself; playing the saxophone and clarinet in a band that played for the Elk's Club back in the 1960's. He also enjoyed spending time at Cannon Beach, OR every summer where he loved to fly his kites. He was an avid and loyal UW Huskies football fan. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Babe and Betty, son Randy Towne, and beloved wife Anne Towne. He is survived by his daughter Marnee Beck and fiancé Dave Bambino, son Jeff Towne and wife Deeann, grandchildren Gabrielle and Vanessa Towne, son Robin Towne and fiancé Patty Schaefer, grandchildren Jacy and Randy Towne. "We miss you dad and you will never be forgotten. You will live on in our hearts forever." At Bob's request there will be no services. A celebration of life will take place with his family at a later date. Special thanks to Shori and Brian Shorak for their kindness and the loving care they provided our dad for the past five years. Donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association.

HAVENS, DONALD C
[br][br]Havens Donald C. 93 Passed away peacefully in Boise Idaho where he was living with his son and daughter in law for the last 7years. Don was born in Spokane, graduated from North Central High School and attended Eastern Washington College. Served in the Merchant Marine during WW2. He then returned to Spokane to and married his wife Ruth. He retired from the City of Spokane Water Dept. as the supervisor of the upriver Dam. He was proceeded by his wife of 61 yrs, two brothers Charles,Daniel and sister Janette. Survived by two sons Gregg and Larry, three grandchildren Michelle, Julia and Kendal, along with seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

MILLER, HOWARD G
[br][br]Howard G. Miller, 84, of Spokane Valley, WA. passed on December 15, 2015 at Valley Hospital due to complications from a fall.
Howard was born to Loren H. and Margaret Miller in Twin Falls, Idaho on November 12, 1931. He earned his BS in Biological Sciences from OSU, then his DVM degree from WSU. While attending WSU, he met his wife of 58 years, Carole M. Shannon and they were married in 1956. After graduation, he joined the Army as a 1st Lt. and they lived in California where they enjoyed the many lifelong friends they made. He left the military and in 1960, started his successful Veterinary practice in Millwood. Howard supported his community by being president of many educational and veterinarian boards throughout his life.
Howard and Carole had 3 children, James Miller, Diana Stobie and Becky Olsen. He loved taking his family fishing, skiing, boating and on family vacations.
Guns and flying were a passion for Howard. He was a flight instructor for years and flew whenever possible. Another hobby was shooting guns where he competed in the Sharp Shooters Club. He also loved to travel and visited Australia and New Zealand with Carole after retirement, then spent 6 weeks with his daughter Becky in Italy in 2014.
Howard is survived by his daughters, Diana Stobie, Becky Olsen and his sister Joan Smith as well as many grandchildren. He will be missed by so many. He was a father, mentor, teacher and friend. He lived a full life and we were blessed to have him in our lives.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:15 pm, Friday May 20th at the WA State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 West Espanola Rd, Medical Lake, WA 99022.

FLANAGAN, CHRISTINA O
[br][br]Christina Odele (Mack) Flanagan, devoted wife and mother of 2, died at the age of 32 years old on May 19, 2016 in Spokane, Washington.
She is survived by her husband, Jeremy Flanagan and children Harmony and Elias; parents David and Julia Mack; siblings Anita Lanning and Kendra Kennedy; grandparents Clarence and Bernice Mack; grandmother Beverly Wehling. She is preceded in death by her grandfather Richard Wehling.
Christina was born in Peoria, Illinois on November 13, 1983 to David and Julia Mack. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 2007 with a degree in Kinesiology. On October 2, 2010, she married Jeremy W Flanagan. On December 29, 2011 and September 23, 2013 respectively, God gifted her with two beautiful children Harmony and Elias Flanagan, who were the most important part of her life.
Christina was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and woman of God. She enjoyed playing with her children and sharing the word of God with others. Christina's journey in her faith really caught fire when she joined Cornerstone Church in Januray 2009. Here, she turned her focus away from worldly distractions and towards serving her Heavenly Father. Christina's faith in God was unwavering even when all odds were against her. She was a leader in her church and mentor for many young adults starting their journey with Christ. She will be deeply missed by family, friends and all of those who knew her.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22 at the Cornerstone Church 21326 E Mission Ave in Spokane. Pastor Rick Mayo will officiate.

Shirley Dean Margaret Walter Wilhelmi passed away January 6, 2016 at her care facility near her daughter in North Idaho. She was born in Bonners Ferry Idaho April 20, 1928 to Guy and Olive Walter, went to school in Eastport Idaho and graduated from North Central High School in Spokane. She met her husband Virgil H. Wilhelmi while working for Northwest Airlines. They were married in Spokane in 1948. They moved with their 2 children to Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Kennewick, Walla Walla, Bellevue, and finally Tacoma where Shirley was preceded in death by Virgil in 1978. She is survived by her close companion of 34 years Don Christensen of Gig Harbor Washington, her son Guy of Tacoma Washington, her daughter Jan of Hayden Lake Idaho, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her sister Alta of Spokane. No service is being held, she has joined the family at Fairmount Memorial in Spokane.

BROWN, RICHARD "DICK" E.
[br][br]Richard E. Brown passed away peacefully on May 18, 2016. He was born on May 13, 1923 to Emmett R. Brown and Eula McCabe Brown on a farm in southern Iowa.
Dick attended high school in Seymour, Iowa and for a short time, Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois before enlisting in the Navy during World War II. His talent and love for woodworking started here. He was stationed in the Marshall Islands and worked as a machinist for landing crafts.
Dick returned to Iowa and married Norma Eule Long in 1948. They moved to California before coming to Spokane in 1950. Dick enjoyed a successful career in construction and founded Warner and Brown Construction, followed by Brown Building Materials in 1958.
Dick was a vital member of the Spokane community. He was driven by an innate sense of fairness, integrity and generosity. He was an active member of the Spokane Scottish Rite Free Masons and El Katif Shriners which he found extremely rewarding, made a lasting impression on all and established a wonderful group of friends. Dick volunteered nearly 5,000 hours at Spokane Shriners Hospital. He recently presented a generous donation for the hospital's EOS Imaging Suite. Devoted to institutions that meant a great deal to him, Dick dontated over 36 gallons of blood to the Inland Northwest Blood Center. He served on the Board of Directors for Spokane School District 81 as well as Deaconess Hospital. Dick was also a past president of the Inland Northwest Associated General Contractors of America.
He was the proud and loving father of three sons; Ron (Judy), Eric (Lisa), and Norm (Bernadette) and two grandsons, Jared and Trevor. Dick is also survived by his "older sister" Virginia Sales and numerous nieces and nephews. Dick is preceded in death by his wife Norma.

Family and friends can celebrate Dick's life of June 6, 2016 at Touchmark on South Hill, 2929 S. Waterford Dr., Spokane, WA at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children - Spokane or Inland Northwest Honor Flight.
