[br][br]Gene was a WW11 Army veteran. He attended the State Normal School at Cheney, and later attended the University of Chicago. He worked in several different capacities throughout his teaching career as well as coaching Boy's Basketball, leading Boy Scouts and 4-H projects. He worked at Lakeland Village from 1955 to 1984. He had many interests—sports, humanities, geology, plant life, antiques, and a good cookie but the true loves of his life were his many beloved pets, smoking his pipes, and his avid reading of books. Services for Gene will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 4 at St John's Lutheran Church in Medical Lake, 223 S Hallett St
