[br][br]Gus attended Moran UMC in his last years. Gus was born September 6, 1936 in Afognak, Alaska and went to be with his Lord and Savior August 9, 2013 after a brief illness. He graduated in 1955 from Seward High School in Seward, Alaska. After a tumultuous younger life, he married Venus Rebecca Nelsen. Together they lived an exemplary Christian life attending Centenary UMC, where Gus was Head Usher. Venus preceded Gus into heaven on November 30, 1999. Gus was grateful for the care he received at Moran Vista Assisted Living and Alderwood Manor in his later years and for the love he experienced at Moran UMC where he attended church in his last years. Gus came from a fishing family. His father, Charlie and mother, Natalia had four sons and two daughters. Gus's surviving brothers are Tommy and Herman. His other brother, "Charlie Boy", died while fishing in Alaska. Gus's surviving sister, Annia Lucason, lives in Anchorage, Alaska. His other sister, Olga, died November 26, 2008. Gus had two boys from previous marriages in Alaska, Kenneth and David. Gus's memorial service will be held at Moran UMC, 3601 East 65th Avenue, at 12:00 noon, on Thursday, Aug 22nd.
