Margaret Louise (Lybecker) Swanson died May 11, 2015 in Pullman. Margaret was born April 3, 1924 in Anatone, WA to Gus and Bess Lybecker. The family moved to Pomeroy, WA where she graduated from high school in 1942. Margaret attended Washington State College graduating with a B.S. in Home Economics in 1948. She and Jay P. Swanson were married later that year on August 28, 1948.
Margaret worked for the state extension office at WSU, as a reporter for the Spokane Daily Chronicle and as a homemaker. She was a past president of the Pullman Women's Golf Club; past president of the Whitman County Republican Women, a precinct committee person and an Election Boards coordinator; past president of the United Methodist Women and also of Exodus. She also served as president of the WSU Home Economics Association. She was a long time member of Simpson United Methodist Church and loved to play golf and bridge.
The early passing of her husband Jay in 1963 left her to raise 4 children aged 3-13. She is preceded in death by her sister Kathleen Davis and brother Norman Lybecker. She is survived by her children, Suzanne Swanson (Wane Salisbury), Cary Swanson, Nils Swanson (Sue), Eric Swanson (Cindy Yurth) and seven grandchildren.
The family extends a note of gratitude to Lorna Shampole and her staff at Glen Haven adult homes in Pullman for taking wonderful care of Margaret over the past few years.
Celebration of life service to be held June 6, 3:00 p.m at the Flour Mill, Pataha WA.
