[br][br]Bob Collins, 79, went to be with God early in the morning on Monday, November 10th following several months of battling multiple health issues. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon of 53 years (1 month shy of 54), his brother Chuck (Marge) of Buchanan, MI, his lifelong friend whom he loved as a brother Jim Heinen, and his sons Todd (Lori) and Scott (Kelli) both of Spokane. Bob had 14 grandchildren and was expecting his first great grandchild in the spring.
Growing up in the Spokane Valley, Bob graduated from Central Valley High School in 1953. He served six years in the United States Army—two years active duty and four in the reserves. Bob worked in the construction industry for over 35 years. He had an excellent reputation of skillful and effective field management techniques and was well respected by architects, engineers, owners and subcontractors. Bob was a project superintendent for H. Halvorson, Hazen and Clark, Mooney & Pugh, and Shea Construction. Projects of consequence include: Cheney Jr. High School, Fifth & Browne Medical Building, North Central High School, FAFB Dormitories and Survival School, and Foothills Middle School in Wenatchee.
Bob was passionate about his role as a project superintendent and it spilled over into his personal life. He spent over 30 years building and tweaking the second great love of his life, "the cabin at Priest River". He loved spending time at the cabin and building lifelong friendships with his river buddies. While at the cabin or at home in the Spokane Valley, Bob was always willing to help his friends solve their home project problems when they got in a bind. He will be greatly missed!
The family is having a private graveside service on Saturday, November 22nd at Saltese Cemetery.
